HOW TO USE THESE WINDOWS 95 (R) MELISSA ETHERIDGE DESKTOP ITEMS
1. Create a folder to hold these theme items, directly off your C: drive
(makes it easier to find later). Let's call the folder MELISSA_THEME.
2. Move the .zip file(s) you just downloaded into the MELISSA_THEME folder.
3. Unzip the files using PKZIP Shareware. If you don't have a copy, download it from
a shareware site such as:

ZDnet
Shareware
File Pile
INSTALLING ICONS FOR SHORTCUTS
1. Right click the Windows 95 shortcut file whose icon you want to change.
2. Select properties from the drop down menu.
3. Select Shortcut tab
4. Select Change Icon button.
5. Select Browse. Now you can view the icons in the MELISSA_THEME folder.
6. Double click the icon you want, select Apply from the properties menu.
INSTALLING THE WALLPAPER
1. Right click the Windows 95 desktop (the background)
2. Select Properties from the drop down menu
3. Select the Background tab
4. Click the Browse button under the Wallpaper listing
5. Go to C:\MELISSA_THEME\ and select one of the two wallpapers. One is
called BACKGROUND1.BMP. It is very Internet-like, with Melissa draped playfully
across a table. The other, called BACK1.BMP, is the key logo created as a pattern
6. Select the Tile radio button
7. Click OK
INSTALLING THE START-UP (logo.sys), WAIT (logow.sys) AND SHUT DOWN (logos.sys) SCREENS
1. Save your original LOGO.SYS, LOGOW.SYS AND LOGOS.SYS if any. If you don't know where they are, click the Start button, select Find and find LOGO*.SYS.
2. Rename it to LOGOBACK.SYS, LOGOWBACK.SYS and LOGOSBACK.SYS
3. Move the LOGO.SYS file from C:\MELISSA_THEME to the C: root directory
4. Move the LOGOW.SYS and LOGOS.SYS files from C:\MELISSA_THEME to the C:\WINDOWS directory
5. If you want to return to those boring old Windows 95 screen, simply delete C:\LOGO.SYS and rename the LOGOBACK.SYS to LOGO.SYS, LOGOSBACK.SYS to LOGOS.SYS and LOGOWBACK.SYS to LOGOW.SYS in their respective file folders.
INSTALLING "HELLO" AS YOUR WELCOME SOUND
1. Click the Start Button in the lower left corner
2. Select SETTINGS
3. Select CONTROL PANEL
4. Double click the SOUNDS icon
5. Scroll through the "Events" until you find "Start Windows", then click once on START WINDOWS
6. Click the BROWSE button
7. Go to C:\MELISSA_THEME and select the HELLO HELLO.WAV file
8. Click OK and close the Control Panel Screen
9. To hear the sound when you start your computer, make sure your speakers are turned on and the volume is up.
From now on, when you turn your computer off and on, you will see and hear Melissa everywhere!
